The party starts their day after they left Tranor Tralley in the docks. There’s a lot to be done, but it’s finally time for some long needed rest after being constantly on the run and on some pretty weird occations the last weeks. Ularansa is a city known to Mirabel as she had spent a few years of her life there.
The streets of Ularansa
They navigated through the packed narrow streets of the city of the port level with colourful (venice architecture – like) buildings, after a 15 minutes walk they arrived on the appartment that Mirabel’s family has bought. It’s a building with two floors and a rooftop. the building’s square has a small garden surrounding it, It seems pretty well kept. Because of the garden it is not immediately connected with the next one and it has some space between.
Mirabel’s Appartment is the second one, a bit narrower than the one first but that leaves plenty space for a big balcony that is built on the terrace of the bellow apartment and connects with mirabel’s. The walls of the buildings are purple. The inside of the apartment is small, around 50sq meter, it has two rooms and a kitchen. Also pretty simple and minimal furniture, in stark contrast of the more ornate style of the era. (one whould say that it looks more modern haahha 😛 ).
A Message for Mirabell
Mirabel found a letter, on her letterbox, from Cardiff Maxwell. He’s a wizard and arcane researcher friend of Mirabel’s parents and also a coworker as he works at the research magical company that Mirabel’s parents owned. Stasis, Cardiff sent her a letter that said that there’s a lot to discuss about her heritage, now that her parents have both deceased, He is also has authorised the Treasury of Ularansa to provide her with 500gp, which Mirabel got. Mirabel contacted him with a sending spell.
Lunch with Iria and Hanks
In the afternoon they were greeted by Iria and Hanks, the elder couple of the floor bellow, Iria is known for her skill in painting porcelain and dishes, and she has a wonderfull collection of painted plates, they invite the party for lunch with them. Tom was once a sailor, now long retired. After Mirabel went to the treasury to collect the gold that Cardiff had sent, they stopped to a local bakery shop “the Fournario” that was on the square of the Student district where mirabel lived. They bought a pie for Iria and Hanks that mirabel knew they liked. It was sweet pie made of milk sugar eggs etc. they called it the “Milkbourek”. They went back and had dinner with the elder couple.
The Booktree
After that The party stayed for an hour or two in the appartment settling in, Zimbo happily rested himself on the sofa, and refused to get up to do anything else. It was afternoon so the party had some time in the town, walking around. In the evening they sat at the Booktree Bookinn, a local inn like store, that primarly served juices and coffee beverage, the booktree was in the square of the district that Mirabell lived. it was a building with wooden ornate details that had a bookcase inside with printed books! (some were available for sell as well), The party sat inside next to the bookcase. The store had also tables in the square under the shade of a large plat tree, where some students thet were studying there.
Of Myths and Facts
They found some children’s book that told the story of a golden haired man, called Homus that fought the evil Dragon King of a fantastical Dragon Empire (those stories were twisted versions of some actual lesser known historical facts) Fate, well versed in story, explained what happened, as Homus was indeed a human that went against the Elder Imperium and Arthal, the tyrannic elven king, that indeed overthrown the equally tyranicall Norixian Empire. Arthal and Homus and the remains of the Dragons were never seen again after the climatic battle in the island Norix and the nearby city of Watchlore (who Fate referred as Rocky Ruins) In the events of these battles the Great Constraint Barrier was formed arround Norix, barricading the island from the outside world.
The Tale of the Knight and the Dragoness
There was also another book that told the legend of the knight and the sea dragon. Hundrends of years in the past, there was a mad sea monster that terrorised the seas of a fantasy country of islands (resembling the messos archipelago). The Witch king of the the country, a pretty disliked king ordered one of his most trusted knight to go and slay the beast, only for the knight to find out that the beast was a sea dragon. Him and his party found it and had a battle in the sea where the sea dragon killed all of his friend but the knight. They fought hard and for a long time, with magic teeth claws and steel. The knight was skillful and managed to injure the dragon, after the dragon was washed ashore in a remote flat sandy island with a single palm tree there. the knight tried to finish her up, by stabing the dragon’s head. but he was exhausted, the sword was weighing heavy on him, after days of battle, he had thriumphed, but he couldnt finish it, not because he didnt want to, he phisically couldn’t, and there he lied next to the sea-dragon who was drawing her last breaths, under the dancing lights of the aurora, he couldn’t move, his body was shuttered, he too were to die there. The story says that the lights of the sky came down to the land and embraced the two creatures, giving them life again. The next day the knight woke up, completely healed and next to him was not a dragon but a beautifull woman with sharp looks fiercfull as the sea, completely naked and confused. It was the sea dragon, her curse was broken, and the duo fell in love, and adventured in the seas. The knight and the sea dragon was a very reknown tale in the messos archipelago, with a lot of variations on how it was told. Some said that a blue serpent found the knight and the dragon and give them life, linking them together, the blue serpent is usually ascosiated with the god Messos. The orcs also have their own verison of the story, where an orcish shaman of Raijin finds the the wounded dragon and knight, and takes them to his remote monastery on the top of a tall rock in the edge of a remote island, and prays to the storm godess to give them spark of life in the hearts, there a white sherpent descents from cloud the sky and glazes over the orc shaman and the dragon and the man. Giving the orc a prophecy that one day the Orcs will leave free of the witch king once more with the help of the dragoness and knight.
Dorianna: The Annoying drunk neighbor
The party went back to the house, had a beer or two, that was in the apartment of Mirabel’s. A pretty chill night. They prepared to go to sleep after a long day, only to find out that the neighbor in the next house was having a pretty wild party and was also pretty drunk, they were making quite some loud noise and also one girl was drinking beer from a barell, making out with at least two boys, singing loudly (not very bad actually) using an enchantment spell on her to make her voice even louder. Our party had enough, Mirabell and Z’mbo went to “politely” ask them to quite down. The polite way was not very succesfull, until Z’mbo pretty much threatened them to break their legs if they continue. After a while they stopped (partially because of Z’mbo threat, and partially because Dorianna, the girl that was drinking from the barrel and the resident of the house, simply had passed out from the drink.
Next day Mirabel Fate take Ulrich to the Crescent Academy. An academy for wizard and sorcerers. It’s where Mirabel studied. The plan is to meet Laira Maelis , professor of Life and Death related Subjects , they hope that she will take Ulrich under her protection and teach him.
