After investigating the basement beneath the boat, the party discovered a hatch leading to an underground storage area. They heard noises from a room and prepared for a fight, only to find the wanted half-Orc, Gurg. They convinced him that Normilia sent them, and he shared his hazy memories of a dispute over cargo that ended in him dragging the body of a dead cleric through the streets of Fortuna Cove.
Normilia admitted to staging Gurg’s prison escape with the help of a friend in the guard. She believed Gurg was under a spell she couldn’t dispel and had arranged for a pirate vessel to take him away. Mirabel used a sending spell to hasten the rescue.
The party left Ulrich at the inn with Kerini, Keras’s daughter. The next day, they found a guard investigating the basement. Mirabel used a Fast Friends spell to befriend the guard and convinced him that Gurg was hiding on Fortunaki. She flew him there on her broomling, where they encountered toads worshipping an obelisk. The toads took the guard, and Mirabel returned to the inn.
They discovered that Gurg was under a Modify Memory spell, which they dispelled. Gurg remembered a woman with bright pink hair who controlled him as they murdered the two clerics. The next day, Fate went shopping and bought two prismatic potions of invisibility. The town was on high alert due to the missing guard, and the party prepared to leave, Fate paid Obob for information, Obob also informed Fate that the sheriff who left so sudden was seeing a woman the previous days, a woman with bright pink hair… Then fate tried to spread some misinformation that the missing guard was found on the northern part of the island through Obob, Obob certainly did tell that to the guards, and the guards did investigated, he also told to the guards who told him this information. That sent a few of them to find Fate so that she could tell them more information, but the time of the great escape was now.
With a sense of urgency, they transformed Normilia into a majestic Giant Eagle. Fate, Ulrich, and Gurg clambered onto her broad back, while Mirabel and Z’mbo mounted the broomling, albeit with a sense of discomfort. But before they could take off from the beach beneath the lighthouse, they noticed patrolling guards approaching. Quick thinking led to a distraction – a fireball launched at a nearby tree and the lighthouse itself, the explosion masked by a silence spell to dampen the noise.
As they ascended, the lighthouse erupted in a fiery spectacle behind them, likely causing chaos and confusion among the guards. The coastal guard’s skylings took to the air in response, their silhouettes stark against the sky. The party made their way to the northern beach of Fortunaki, known for its shimmering cave and prismatic dust.
Upon landing, they were greeted not by the tranquility they hoped for, but by an illusionary cat that morphed into a medium prismatic crab. A skirmish ensued as more crabs emerged, their shells glistening in the sunlight. As they battled, a pirate vessel approached, its sails billowing in the wind.
They quickly boarded the vessel, welcomed by the grizzled Captain Maximoff. But there was no time for pleasantries. A coastal guard skyling was hot on their tail. As Maximoff prepared the engines for a hasty departure, the party used every resource at their disposal to stall the pursuers, firing ballistas and launching fireballs. Even young Ulrich joined in, launching weak black firebolts at the enemy.
Finally, with a roar of engines and a gust of wind, their vessel took off. Mirabel and Z’mbo combined their spells to disable the enemy skyling’s engines, leaving it floundering in the air. As they soared away, they left chaos in their wake, but also a trail leading towards Ularansa, their next destination
