Shadowpine, a logging village to the east of Phalandin, is caught in a delicate balance of power. The bandits, led by Grigor Ironhand, have established a strong presence in the village. While their methods are rough and their demands high, they offer something the villagers desperately need – protection.

Zenidor, the ruling power, has shown little interest in devoting forces to protect the northern territories. This lack of support has left villages like Shadowpine vulnerable to threats such as goblin raids and other dangers. In this context, the bandits’ offer of protection is a lifeline for some villagers, despite the cost.

The villagers are divided. Some see the bandits as their only hope for survival and are willing to pay the price for their protection. Others, however, refuse to bow to the bandits and are willing to fight for their freedom.

For the party, this presents a complex situation. The bandits, despite their reputation, could prove to be unlikely allies in the face of Zenidor’s indifference. On the other hand, siding with the bandits could mean endorsing their harsh rule over the villagers.

The party’s decisions in Shadowpine will not only determine the fate of the village but could also shape the balance of power in the region. They must tread carefully, for their actions could have far-reaching consequences
