In an era where diplomacy often prevails, the relationship between the Union and the Orcish territories of the Minisla Islands has long been punctuated by tension and mistrust. Yet, it appears we’ve narrowly avoided a threat of even graver magnitude, or rather, a dormant menace has been shockingly unveiled.
Whispers of a full-scale Orcish rebellion have been ruffling feathers across the Union, and it seems these rumors were not merely idle chatter. The specter of an insurrection has proven to be chillingly real.
Only last week, a faction of loyal Orcs, led by a steadfast cleric, surfaced with damning evidence of an illegal underground Orcish organization. The group’s alleged aim was nothing short of overthrowing the Orcish Governor – or the ‘Great Chieftain’ as our Orcish counterparts insist we address him – Grimgor of Avalansa.
The alleged ringleader of this clandestine operation, Orcish Naval Commander Zordash, was reportedly orchestrating a coup of breathtaking scope. If the evidence holds water, Zordash had planted Orcish sympathizers on strategic islands of the Messos Archipelago and along the coastal areas of the mainland Zenidor as parts of the cojoined Orcish- Cleric of Messos missions. These individuals were loyal to what has been ominously referred to as “The Great Orcish Cause.”
This cause is purportedly aimed at establishing the Island of Minisla as a fully sovereign Orcish nation, perhaps banishing the Zenidorian population. Even more disquietingly, there are suggestions of a greater ambition: the formation of a widespread Orcish Empire, echoing the ancient times before the Great Barrier.
The Orcish Governor’s recent initiatives, that were hijacked by Zordash, have been efforts to revitalize areas of ancient Orcish significance and encourage peaceful coexistence among races they were part of an initiative of the previous Church of Messos administrator. Yet, these endeavors have been met with criticism from the Church of Messos’ newly appointed Archcleric Father Tryphon, succeeding the ailing Father Trendor, as well as the Trinity Council of Zenidor.
The Zenidorian authorities are now on high alert, conducting an aggressive manhunt for these Orcish dissidents, many of whom are already facing prosecution. Regrettably, the elusive Zordash has so far managed to evade capture and remains at large.
As we venture into these uncertain times, it remains to be seen whether we’ve forestalled an imminent rebellion or merely unveiled a far-reaching Orcish plot that’s been simmering under the surface. For now, it seems, the tense peace holds. Stay tuned to Union Times for the latest developments in this unfolding saga.
