Martel Brightspark, during his time with the Crimson Company, had started to develop a revolutionary concept: a battery magitech that could be charged with magic and used as an alternative to red essence. His idea was to create a sustainable and efficient energy source that could revolutionize the way arcane technology was powered. However, his innovative ideas were met with resistance from the company’s leadership, who were more interested in maintaining their control over the red essence market.

Despite the potential of his battery magitech to significantly reduce the consumption of red essence and provide a more sustainable energy source, the company’s management decided to shut down his project. This decision, driven by fear of losing their monopoly over the red essence market, was a clear indication to Martel that the company was more interested in maintaining its power than in advancing arcane technology.

Disillusioned and without many options, Martel left the Crimson Company. He found a small, up-and-coming company called the Ascendant Gear, which at the time was a small team of three people doing repairs on skylings and other ship’s red essence engines. When the company that managed the Great Elevator shut down, the Ascendant Gear, for some unexpected reason, took over the maintenance of the Great Elevator. Martel saw this as an opportunity and joined the Ascendant Gear.

Despite being a small team, Martel was determined to make the Ascendant Gear successful. He brought his innovative ideas and hard work to the table, hoping to not only improve the operations of the Great Elevator but also to continue his research on the battery magitech. His work has the potential to revolutionize the field of arcane engineering and provide a sustainable alternative to red essence.

However, the leadership of the Crimson Company has changed since Martel’s departure, becoming much more aggressive, especially towards potential competitors. This has led to a tense relationship between the Ascendant Gear and the Crimson Company. Despite the challenges and the aggressive tactics of his former employers, Martel remains dedicated to his mission, driven by a desire to improve the lives of the people of Ularansa and to push the boundaries of arcane engineering. The Great Elevator, while not as promoted as it once was, continues to be a testament to the Ascendant Gear’s commitment to innovation and progress.
