Just when the denizens of Fortuna believed they were getting closer to closure in the wake of the recent double homicide, a new chapter in this grisly saga has begun. The prime suspect, the half-orc named Gurg, has managed to slip his shackles, leaving the island teetering on the brink of chaos.
In a daring move that shocked island authorities, Gurg single-handedly overpowered two guards and vanished without a trace. The fallout was swift and brutal. The local sheriff, already under scrutiny from the Church of Messos, was relieved of his duties and removed from the island for questioning. Assuming the reins of the investigation, and the leadership of the local law enforcement, is Paladin Lett Ernes from the Order of Messos. His immediate arrival only underscored the gravity of the situation.
In the wake of Gurg’s escape, Fortuna finds itself under a crippling naval blockade. No merchant vessels are permitted to enter or leave the island’s waters, a measure that further exacerbates the tensions amongst its inhabitants.
Among those most affected are the members and fans of the island’s renowned skyling team, Fourtouna SC. Their participation in the season’s decisive race in Ularansa hangs in the balance, with the Zenidorian mission reportedly commandeering the team’s skyling sea vessels to bolster patrols around the island.
As the hour of the tournament draws near, the Skyling Federation is reportedly considering issuing a special permit that would allow Fourtouna SC to bypass the blockade. Should this prove impossible, however, the federation has warned that the team will be left with no choice but exclusion from the race. This would inevitably result in a devastating blow to their standing in the tournament, as they currently hold fourth place.
The stakes have never been higher for Fourtouna SC and their fans, as they pin their hopes on a speedy resolution to the crisis and the recapture of Gurg. As always, Union Times will continue to bring you the latest in this ongoing saga.
